I did nothing at all, except for that I went to homecoming. It was sweet nothingness. By the way, I saw that North Bend and Estacada trounced Marist and the Elmira Open by about 30 points each. How legitamte was this victory? Did Marist have all their personnel? Or where some of them off on "missions" or whatever? Because that would make me extremely happy if somebody beat Marist by that much. It'd be one of the best things that's happened this season. Also, I think we are way better than eigth. I think that we are as good as Hidden Valley and Cottage Grove and definitely better than Molalla and La Salle. I think that's crap. Oh well, it's just ranking I guess. But I think that is somewhat disrespectful. Maybe it'll give us the chance to be the underdogs, because we are definitely good enough to get a trophy at state.
10-20 Freerunning
Well, Travis and I buddy ran all over this known hemisphere. It was smashing. We ran to the golf course and we were running around the course. It was awesome. Luckily we didn't have to dodge any golf balls. We ran 27 minutes and 10.05 seconds. Can't forget significant digits. Anyway, this was a good run. Medium-easy in hardness.
The brownies for the run
This was a good run, even though my team got anhilated. My team had some real slackers, sheesh. We were the Foo Fighters, more like the Feeble Fighters. Anyway, I ran 11:32 and got 16th, pretty much the same exact time and place as last year. Oh well, I felt a little better than I have been feeling. I was able to kick it in at the end, so maybe I could have gone faster. It was fun. It went by fast.
wednesday evening time to get away
well, we ran. On some sweet trail, mind you. for about 30 minutes. yeah fragments
10-17 700's (more fun last year)
I did pretty well for these 700's until the fifth one. I ran 2:32, 2:28, 2:29, 2:28, and 2:40. On my last one I totally died, just like its been in the last three meets before this. This wasn't quite as fun as it was the year before. Last year I remember it feeling really easy, like the easiest workout that we had done in a long time. oh well. I like running on the baseball field.
10-16 through 10-21
I just have to say this week was crazy for me. I didn't go to bed before twelve once. I had to study for my mideterm in College U.S. History and I had an English paper and a Chemistry lab to finish. I also had an essay in Career Development. So cross country become somewhat secondary for the week, I hate to say. I felt like whatever I did was fine, because it wasn't worth worrying about. Hopefully I can avoid this in the future.

10-16 Tommy
Ran a Tommy Balcom in 34:58. My legs did not feel very good. I had that powerless feeling again, like I have been having at the meets. It stunk. I was still able to average 7 minute miles. I know that this probably directly had to do with the amount of sleep that I got last night, which was about 6 hours. I also got my ferratin tested today, and it was quite a bit lower than I thought it would be. It was 27.2. I am pretty sure that this means that I need to take Iron, so I am going to start. I really hope that this can make me feel better, because I know that I felt a ton better at the begginning of the season. Just look at the North Bend meet as an example. I know that I can feel it. I remember that I got my ferratin tested during track season of my freshman year, and it was in the 60's. The tommy balcolm I ran last week felt a lot easier and was a minute faster.

Low-key Saturday
I ran 35 minutes with my Dad and with Daren. It was nice. It was rather slow, but it felt good. WE ran around Green Lake in Seattle. It was pretty cold. A relaxing run. It was nice to just run at a a casual pace.
10-13 Fartleking Friday
We ran this improvisationally run on Friday. It went pretty well. We warmed up for 15 minutes, and we went north on spruce street instead of south. It was pretty dang invigorating because I have never ran up there before. In the Fartlek, Travis and I kept the surge and rest lengths pretty consistent the whole time. We ran about 1 minute surges and 1 minute rests each time. I prolonged some of the rests to about 1:15 for some of them. It felt hard. The last few my legs were starting to die, but I just tried to push as hard as I could through it. It went well. That took about 20 minutes. We then warmed down for about 7 minutes. I kind of like the fact that it is an improvised workout.

10-11 running in ovals
We did a 1600, 2x800, the 5 minute tempo run, and 4x200 cut-downs. I ran the 1600 in 5:48, and that was pretty frusterating because we were supposed to run 5:38. I've been feeling like I've lost my focus a little bit. Running the 1600 slow made me motivated to run the 800's faster. I ran 2:40 and 2:41 for those two. We were supposed to run 2:44 for them, but running a little faster doesn't hurt. I felt a lot better after that. After that we did the little tempo run, and that wasn't bad. I hope I did it right. Finally, to add the whipcream to this milkshake of a workout, we ran 4x200 cut downs. I ran 34-32-30-28, exactly as I was supposed to. Those felt pretty good. Running a 28 wasn't too surprising to me because I feel like I should be able to run that fast. Overall, it was a good workout except for the 1600 being a little slow.
10-10 simply a Tommy Balcolm
This was the first time that I've ever ran a Tommy Balcolm and it felt easy. I ran about a 33:55 for the five miles. My legs were tired, but it felt good.
10-9 kingwood hill 3x3 easy-medium-mediumER
well, this run was mediumly hard. We ran kingwood hills 3 sets of easy-medium-mediumer. I think that we ran the easy's to slow. The first one was abou 1:22, the second one was about 1:30, and the third was abou 1:26. For the mediums, I think they were all around the 1:15 range. For the mediumers, I think we did 1:12, 1:14, and 1:10. It did not seem that crazy hard at the end, so I think that we did them to slow. We then jogged for 10 minutes and then did 200 cut-downs, at 36, 34, 32, and 30. These felt a little bit harder than the hills. My legs were tired, though, for the hills. It was an okay work out. The main thing I remember is that I feel like we ran the hills too slow.

10-8-06 Philomath is where I'll go.........(or Woodstock's)
Well, I ran 19:32 at Philomath. I did not do bad, but I know that I could do a lot better if I was feeling my best. I do not know if it is because of lack of sleep or low ferratin, but something is causing me to die at about the two mile mark. This does not come from being more tired than I usually would be during a race either. I actually started out relatively reserved this race. I didn't get my mile splits because my watch stopped. I know that I did not start out that fast, though. It felt relatively easy, also. I can recognize times I've felt this. It happened on an practice early in the season when we ran to dairy queen, another early practice when we ran to the post, the Northwest Classic, Woahink, and Philomath. It's really frusterating. I put in the same effort when my legs start failing, but they just stop working in a sense. No matter how hard I try to push my legs, I barely can get any power out of them. I actually start feeling less tired when this happens, but there is nothing I can do to reverse the feeling. That's why I was bobbing my head on the track, for I was doing all I could to move my body forward. My mom got me some iron tablets to take since it doesn't hurt to take them. I have not been feeling like this at practice at all. It's really annoying. Could my ferratin be low because I have been training for so long? Does it go down the more you train? I hope I can figure it out before district. I definitely need to work on getting more sleep. Woodstock's pizza was pretty good, I'd have to say. Especially the crust. I'd have to say American dream pizza is better for 3 reasons, though, because the pizza seems to be about the same at both places. American Dream pizza has really good cookies, it has the crayons, and it has a cooler name. Woodstock's also puts about 10 pounds on its pizzas. That was ridiculous. Well, that's about all that I'll say about non-running related stuff. It was a frusterating run overall. Hopefully I have time to figure this problem out.

10-6-06 goals for Philomath
I want to go out a lot more conservative for this race. I'm hoping to hit around 6:05-6:10 for the first mile, for I think that I will be able to pick up the pace from there and be able to pick people off like I should. It's bed time. The dates for my last 2 entries are off. I have screwed up the first mile in my last 2 races.
10-5 dance around the maypole?
Um, this run was fine my legs felt a little tired. about 28:45 to the pole and back.

10-3-06 cool runnings
I went 48 minutes today, about 6.5 miles or so. It felt good. It was easy. We went to miller, around the hospital trail to rhody, from there to spruce trail, and from there back to the high school.

10-2 800 tempos with short rest
This practice was hard, but it wasn't horrible. My legs were definitely done afterwards, though. I ran 5 800's. I think I ran 2:52, 2:50, 2:53, 2:50, and 2:52, or something like that. It went pretty well. It was tough, but it was good. I'm glad the other guys in my group made it through this time.
9-30 the Woahink Meet
I'm going to stop calling meets battles. I think it's starting to sound kind of dumb anymore. Anyways, this run was pretty dissapointing. I ran about 20:06 for the 5k course. I think I went out to fast. My first mile was 5:43, which would put me on pace for about 18:00. My legs just died right before the part where you come back on the trails to go back, at about 2 miles in. My legs were dead. They had that powerless feeling that I've had a couple of times this season, like the run we had to Dairy Queen early in the season. Is that mean I'm going anaerobic? Anyway, I might not be managing sleep and other things as well as I could, so I need to work on that. I was going as hard as I could, it was just that the energy wasn't there to push me forward. I'm going to try to run around 6:05 for the first mile at Philomath. I think running just a little slower would help a lot.
