goals for the woahink meet

I need to get urgent. I need to want to pr, and, more importantly, beat the guys ahead of me. I'm going to go for a pr, 18:55. This may sound somewhat fast, since Woahink is a somewhat slow course, but I think that with how I have improved since last year and with the work I've been doing this year I should be able to step it up. I'll be looking to run 6 minute pace for the whole race. The weather will definitely help. I think this is my favorite race weather.

9-29 pre meet at woahink

This was a nice, easy run. 27 minutes on the 5k woahink course. It should be a good race. I hope it stays cloudy for tomorrow

9-28 swim me a river

We aqua jogged in the Mapleton Pool for 35 minutes. Felt good. I think I did 11 lengths. I tried to stay vertical.

9-27 concerning hobbit trails

Ran the AT runs at the hobbit trails. I did not end up seeing what time I ran for my loops. My first two were pretty good, although I went too fast on the second one, and that ended up making me dead for the last one. I tried as hard as I could to run the last one, but my legs would barely move. Does that mean I went anaerobic? I think it does. After that I jogged to the beach with Chris, and then ran an AT to the end of the beach. That portion took 12 minutes. Overall it was 43 minutes, beginning at the loops and ending at the end of the beach.

9-26 the endurance run from Holman Vista

I ran the colossal length of about 8.5-9 miles. It took 1 hour and 3 minutes. It actually felt pretty good, though.

9-25 Birthday Earner 1000's

yep, this was on my birthday. This actually felt pretty good. I ran 5 1000's. with about 8 minute breaks in between. I ran the first one in 3:38, 2nd in 3:42, 3rd in 3:36, 4th in 3:34, and 5th in 3:34. For some reasons these type of work outs suit me really well. For other info, I ran 19 minutes to warm up and 12 to cool down.

9-23 The 4th battle: LCC, my achilles heel

Well, this was probably my worst race of the year. I ran the 5k course in a time of 20:06 about. It was pretty dissapointing. It did not feel very well at all. The lack of sleep I had last week could not have helped. I also had a slight cold, I think. My first 1k was at about 3:45. My first mile was 6:03. My 3k time was actually the same as Molalla, 11:35. My 2 mile time was about 12:23. It kind of fell apart from there, with all of the hills that followed. I didn't really like running three laps. It was too much of the same thing. The last two hills really killed me. I didn't have a lot of drive at the end for this one. That was probably because of me being tired. I need to make sure I get more sleep this week and for the rest of the year. Not a very good race for me. About 10 seconds faster than this meet last year, although if it was the exact same course as last year I probably would have ran about 30-45 seconds faster.

9-22 Buddy run number 2

This run was nice and easy. 24 minutes, 3.2 miles? Me and Jacob ran on Kingwood and up to Sandpines and other places. My sub race-pace 300 was in 1:02 or so. A good practice.

9-21 Jueves:Nadando en la piscina de Mapleton

This practice was pretty good, 35 minutes in Mapleton pool. The races and water polo were pretty intense, however. Both of my calves cramped up when I jumped off of the side of the pool at the start of the game. I also did 4 races in the pool in a row. I was going all out, too. That was tough. My heart was beating pretty fast. I think I went into oxygen debt on the last race, because I just could not swim fast at all on the way back. I may have gone too hard. I could still feel my calves on Friday. They feel better now (Sunday).

9-20 Driver 800's in the South Central Rain

This work out actually felt really good. We ran 6 800's. I was able to run my pace pretty easily. In an easy for a workout sense. I could have done more, but it did not seem like that was the point of the workout. I ran 2:57, 2:50, 2:54, 2:54, 2:53, and 2:53. This was probably the second best run of the week. I like running in the rain

9-19 The eternal run of Bay Street Plus

I did not feel very good for this run at all. I ran 49:30, for about 6.5 miles probably. I was really tired for this run. I kept up with the other guys for about 20 minutes. My legs did not have much energy either. I kind of had the rubber leg feeling. I think another thing that made this run worse is that I do not like doing long runs on roads. For some reason its demoralizing. I think its because its more boring. I should get over that. This felt like the hardest practice of the week.

Tuesday morning

This felt fine. I cannot remember anything in particular about this run other than I felt tired the rest of the day. About 12 minutes for the beginning run, since I was late....Never again. We pumped some iron and then ran a 10 minute warmp down.

9-18 tahkenitch

Ran the 6 or so miles at Tahkenitch in 44:17. I ran 44:45 last time, so I improved by a pretty good amount. This definitely felt tough, but I was able to push hard the whole time. I guess having Travis right behind me pushed me to go harder. For some reason it was annoying to have someone breathing really hard behind me when I was running hard. I was happy with this run, though. I am glad I have Travis to be around my speed. I haven't really had any guy who has been around my pace.

The third battle: Molalla

Ran the 3k in 11:35 and got 7th. It felt pretty good. The main thing I remember about this run is that I feel like I could have made a move right around the 8-9 minute area. I think I decided that I should just try and keep with the guys in front. I think that was too conservative of an idea. I think that is one of the main things I need to work on, being aggressive at the end of a race. I'm fine with this race, though. Our JV team did rather well.

9-15 10 minutos

This was a very nice run. 10 minutes easy. A buddy run. My sub race pace 300 was in about 59. That's about all. Nothing too amazing. Although a ten minute run is pretty amazing.

9-15 in the morning

I need to catch up with my blogs. This run was fine. We ran the minimum, which is about 4 miles. 29:30 about for time. My legs felt somewhat tired, so I did not keep up the entire way with the other guys. I probably could have gone harder. It did not seem like I would need to go that hard in the morning, though. I should probably try harder to keep up in the future, though.

9-14 the undeniable combo: minutes and kingwood hills

Well, todays run actually wasn't too bad. It was definitely hard, but I was able to go pretty strong the whole time. My legs were a little tired, but they felt better. Ran a 10 minute warm up, then 5-3-2-1-1. I wasn't sure if we were just supposed to do one 1, because I think it said one on the schedule. Travis and I did two though, just to be safe. A little extra work doesn't hurt. The hills went pretty well, the kingwood hills. I ran 70, 66, 66, and 68. It went pretty well overall, other than my stomach was really starting to cramp up at the end of the hills. I'll just say I had some serious gas.

shadow of the colossus: darlingtonia

A lengthy run. My legs were definitely tired. I had the drained, rubber legs feeling. I just couldn't make my legs move very fast after about 25 minutes. It seemed like there was somewhat of a lack of focus today for the team. Hopefully that doesn't last. This was 49:36 , maybe 6.7 miles? I did the sunday run portion plus the darlingtonia part. Not a great run, but hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. Sleeping in is always nice.

9-13 (what's the story) morning glory? the mist of legend

Well, my legs were tired this morning. I couldn't quite keep up in the initial run to cackleberries, although it felt kind of fast. It took 15:30. Lifting was fine. Worked on my power clean form. The warm down felt alright. 13 minutes It was really foggy this morning.

The Second Battle: Tugman State Park District Preview

Well, I'd say this run worked out pretty well. I was pretty happy with my time, 19:02, which was a 21 second pr. Nice to get that this early in the season. My first mile was pretty darn fast, at 5:45. I think I should shoot for around 6 in the future. I felt a little more tired than for road, lake, and dune. My stomach was bothering me a little bit. I'll just have to adjust what I eat. My second mile split was right at 12, so about a 6:20 second mile. It was a pretty consistent run, though. I did have a little mishap at the end where I tried to turn in to the finish too early. That may have cost me 19 minutes. I got beaten by two guys who always seem to chronically beat me by just little bit. These two guys were Mike Lowry from SU and Blake Larkin from Bandon. Oh well. I didn't have much of a kick at the end. Hopefully I can build that up over the season. Overall, I was pretty happy with the run. We also did pretty well as a team. I think we can turn the table on North Bend. It's still early. I'm happy with this race.

the first pool retreat

40 minutes at the pool, maybe about a half mile.... I always enjoy the pool quite a bit. I can go hard but still have more energy than on a run. Felt goooood. I needed to change up my aqua jogging a little bit. Felt good.

the blinding sun...........another morning

lifted and ran. Pretty basic. Ran to cackleberries, felt fine, kept up with other guys. Lifting was fine. I wasn't quite able to keep up the whole warm down. The sun was blinding on the road to the trail to Miller Park. 16 minutes for first run, 13 for warm down. 3.5-4 miles?

The first battle: ROAD, LAKE, and DUNE

I actually felt pretty good for this one. I ran 21:36, and last year I ran 22:48, so there was a pretty large improvement. I felt like I ran the race at a good pace, although I think I could have ran the sand dunes faster. I don't think I was too extremely tired at the end. I think the sand always gets me here. Anyway, it was a good start to the season. Brad and Henry went pretty darn fast, and that's good. I think that's just a statement for the team. I'm looking forward to running on a faster course, definitely, mainly because of the sand. It was pretty cool to see Asa Acuna from Myrtle Point, who was in my tent at Steens. Also had a good battle with Mike Lowry from South Umpqua at the end. Hopefully next meet will bring a bigger team challenge....we're going to have a pretty good jv team this year, way better than any other I've been on.

9-8-06 in the afternoon easy

plain and simple, this run was nice and easy. About 20 minutes, maybe 2.5-3 miles, somewhere in there. It felt good. The sub race pace 300 felt fine, although I'm never quite sure what my pace I'll be. I ran that in 1 minute. That's about all.

the morning at woahink, 9-8-06

This was the morning run on the eve of road, lake, and dune. This was a relatively easy run, although it was somewhat tough, for my legs felt somewhat tired. It was the minimum, about 4 miles. It took 29:30.

This afternoon's adventure

WEll, this run spanned about 6 miles, a sunday run at Sutton Boat Launchpad. It took 42:10, so it was pretty close to a 7 minute clip per mile. It didn't feel to bad, although my legs were tired. I was slowed at times because of how my legs felt, not because of I was breathing extrememly hard. I was glad I kept up with the main pack the whole way. It was a good run overall. I'd say medium in the difficulty range. And also, Mr. Johnson, I have something to tell you, something that David Barnhart told me to say.....lest I forget

9-6-06 Alien Threshold run

Well, I ran the 4 mile AT run in 27:05, which is about 6:46 pace per mile. I think I did pretty well except for the last mile, which was like 7:10. I think my first mile was 6:55, then 6:15, then 6:43, and 7:12, I guess. It didn't feel to bad. It was tough, but better than expected. The wind was intense. I may have been able to go a little harder, but I was trying to not push it into going anaerobic. I think the main problem I had was the last mile being a little slow, but other than that it was good.

tahkkkkkkenitch(?) the colossal hills

Ah, tahkenitch, of which, I don't know how to spell. This run wasn't bad, I ran it in 44:45. It felt fine, the hills slowed me down, but that was expected. I'm not a great hill runner. I flew down the hills, though, especially on the way back. That's kind of fun. It wasn't too bad, really. All the down hill makes for good recovery. The uphill parts are intense, though. I got stung by a bee twice. I'm a bee magnet this year for some reason. That's about all. I need sleep.

readjustment of a goal

I think that 18:00 may be a little bit of a stretch for me. I feel that about 18:25 is a more realistic goal. I'm not trying to aim any lower or make it so I work less hard, I just think that the goals I've set before have been a little bit out of reach. Last year I wanted to run 18:36, and I was 47 seconds behind that. So I think I should definitely be able to reach 18:25, whether it be Philomath, Adidas, or at district, since it looks like that is a fast course.

9-5 the foggy morning

First school morning practice, pretty much. Ran to Cackleberries, and back to begin, took 15:38, felt somewhat hard, although I could keep up with the other guys. Lifting wasn't bad, I tried to start out kind of easy, since this is the first time of the year, and I remember how it felt last year. It felt like my muscles were all out of wack. After we lifted today I kind of had a feeling that I had to puke for a little while, but after about 1 minute of the cool down it went away. The cool down was about 10 minutes, and it felt fine.

9-4 minutesminutesminutes

Well, this practice we ran minutes. 5,3,2,2. It wasn't bad. Once the 5 was over the other three felt relatively short. I felt pretty strong on this one until the end of the first 2, where I started to feel the feeling where I had no power anymore in my legs. I didn't have anything left for the last one. It's wierd, because no matter how hard I pushed, I couldn't go any faster. Kind of like that feeling of running on sand. It didn't feel to hard, though. It was a medium difficulty.

9-3 Nightrunning

I ran on Sunday for 21 minutes at about 9 o'clock. It was pretty crazy, I couldn't really see were I was going to well. There was some moonlight to navigate by, luckily. I was running in Canyonvillein my yard, running around in the fields and in the road. It was pretty fun. There are some big rocks in that field but I was able to dodge them luckily. I've never gone on a run like this one before. It kind of got my adrenaline pumping because I couldn't see to well where I was running. I also went on an eight mile hike at diamond lake earlier on this day, so I was pretty active.

9-1 tommy balcolm plus morning drudgery

Well, this run didn't feel very good. It was about 40 minutes. My legs were drained. I don't think I had quite recovered from the time trial. I ran relatively slow, but I probably was still going like 7:20 pace or so. maybe 5.5 miles.
